Homework in Third Grade
Your child will have homework each night in third grade. Homework is usually a Math Link from Everyday Math, reading, and spelling. You should expect your child to spend about 30-40 minutes on homework each night. This consists of 20 minutes of nightly reading, a nightly math link (5-10 minutes), and a little bit of spelling or math fact practice (5-10 minutes).
Homework is designed to be independent. I expect that students will be able to complete their homework assignments with minimal to no help. If an assignment is particularly difficult for your child, or if your child is spending more than 40 minutes on homework, please have them stop, make a note of this on the homework assignment, and I will be sure to spend some extra time with your child on that particular skill. |
